A braided crib bumper is not only a fashionable gadget and decorative item, but also a very functional one. It will protect your baby from hitting the hard crib bars or from rolling off your bed, so it is worth equipping your little one's room with such a gadget. However, did you know that instead of buying a ready-made one, you can make it yourself?

In this post from the "Do It Yourself" series, we will tell you how to make a braided crib bumper in just fifteen minutes.
To create this type of braid, we will use velvet CHUNKY MARSHMALLOW YARN with a thickness of 3-4 cm.
If you want to make a braid from velvet CHUNKY MARSHMALLOW YARN with a thickness of 5 cm, read THIS POST.

Ready? Let's get started!

What do you need to weave a braided crib bumper?

The entire weaving process is presented in the video below. To create a bumper like the one in the video, you will need:

  • a free quarter of an hour,
  • enthusiasm,
  • 1 kilogram of velvet chunky marshmallow yarn for arm weaving TUBE with a diameter of 3-4 cm.

What exactly is velvet chunky yarn? It is a tube made of velour fabric filled with polyester padding. We wrote about it in more detail on our Facebook page.

One kilogram of yarn is about 16 meters long and is enough to make a braid about 1.8 meters long and about 20 cm high. The final dimensions depend on how tightly you weave the braid.
